Amado enrolled in Global Academy’s Diploma in Professional Culinary Arts on a scholarship grant last year, armed with a passion for cooking and a dream to start his international culinary career.
“It was like boot camp,” he recalls his training under “disciplinarian” chef-instructors. The program, he said, not only taught him the fundamentals of professional cooking, but also changed the way he thinks and acts.
He considers grit as the most important takeaway from his Global Academy experience. “The greatest lesson that I learned from my instructors: Characters comes before skill, and discipline before talent.”
Every day at work is a learning opportunity for Amado. He still has his sights on that international career, but for now he yearns to improve his skills en route to becoming the best chef that he can be.
